Five Steps to Measure Civic Engagement

How would you assess your civic engagement? Consider the following as you assess impact:

The Kellogg Foundation in a recent report entitled, “Measuring impact of civic engagement: Tracking outcomes on health, education and economics”, suggests examining the following activities to determine impact with your community service site:

ADVOCACY— Assess and reflect on any activities you engaged in that contributed to community empowerment.

PUBLIC POLICY— Assess and reflect on any actions or practices that did or may lead to new regulations, ordinances or laws to support community members.

BUILDING PARTNERSHIP— Assess and reflect on any activities that supported and/or expanded partnerships with potential community stakeholders.

SERVICE DELIVERY— Assess and reflect on any activities you engaged in that advocated and/or supported community mission.

FUNDING OR BUILDING NEW SERVICES— Assess and reflect on any activities that you engaged in that helped fund and/or build new community programs or services.
